There is no reason you can't post pics on this site. If you get a free photobucket account, we will help.[ok]

Remove the brake COLLAR on the frame !!!!
Where the rear brake petal pivots on the frame.
The chemicals they use to dip the frame just kills the collar. Just you try and find one. Almost IMPOSSIBLE !
Use a socket to take her out. Be nice doing it too !

Any info of what not to do let me know. I do see where people have not powder coated the stamped vin area. The PO had a spare swing arm already powder coated. So left to do is frame, tool box, triple trees, kick stand, foot peg mount, skid plate and brackets, battery box... darn I have alot to do yet.... [doh]

I did get warned about the brake collar. Guy said they powder coated his frame and when they heated it up it was a mess... Thanks for reminding me though.

I do have a tap and dye set. Guess the neck race will knock out with a long blunt punch? Did take them out when I was a kid but that way long time ago..

Need some help. I bought this bike with spare parts. The PO had a swingarm powder coated and said it was a replacement for the one on the bike. Now that I have the frame and swing arm apart I noticed they are not the same. Guess I'm sticking with the original swing arm. Can anyone figure what the nice powder coated one is for? Trying to post pics but no luck... I will figure it out?

Bike came with a spare swing arm. After taking original off I noticed they are different. Going to use the original. But what is the nice looking one fit? Different chain case mounts and shock mounts different.

Did one set with base coat black/clear. Other set is powder coated. Picture doesn't show finish very well. The powder coated items have a very light lemon peel finish and very glossy. Painted set has smooth finish and glossy. I'm thinking the powder coated set will hold up better.

I have to say I'm not sure what this heading is for since only Captwk has posted on here but I thought I'd follow his example.

http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss158/vegasvic/IMG_1532.jpg.

This is my starting point.

http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss158/vegasvic/IMG_1596.jpg

After removing almost everything I needed to remove.

http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss158/vegasvic/IMG_1733.jpg

This is the finished product. I had the guy sandblast the frame and most of the removed parts for $80-$100. He mentioned powder coating for $125 and VHT painting the exhaust would be a little more. I picked up all the parts yesterday and the bill was just a hair under $400. Yup, not too sure I'd go that route again.

The coating looks very nice and shiny but there are a couple threads that got coated also so I'm not sure how much of a problem that will be. Probably better than a rattle can finish...probably but I think I might try the next frame on the cheap so i can compare. He did go light on the frame number so that's good.
